About
I am the head developer and owner at Kreotek, and the main developer of phpBMS open source software. I have been working in the computer technology industry for 15 years, 12 of which have been dedicated to web development. Over the years I have worked at only 3 other companies, but have done everything from technical drafting, , to C++ programming, to support, to graphic design, basic IT work.
Location
I am located in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA.
Edu-macation
I attended the University of New Mexico, but never graduated. I think it is important to point out that you can be successful in life without a degree, even in a high-knowledge required field.
For me personally, I learn stuff better on my own, buying books, reading internet posts and trying things. I think the key is not what you know, but rather the ability to learn new concepts. In this industry, if you were to rest only on what you learned in college, you wouldn’t get very far for too long.
Why The Hell Did You Start This Blog?
Blogs – Ugh! For the most part, I don’t really see the point in blogs. Pontificating to make one feel important.
However, I really wanted to do two major things with this blog:
- Archive my development findings so that I don’t have to repeat them in the future. Trust me, spending 5 hours tracking down a bug in web-code only to find out the bug was in php, or the browser, or the server – and not your code, is worth writing down so as not to repeat it in the future!
- Share these potential nuggets of useless nerdy information with others.
Also, I think it is important to give back. I can’t tell you how many times I have gleaned some bit of programming knowledge form other developer blogs.
Yah, But It’s A Blog.
I know. I know. I am going to the circle of hell reserved for hypocrites.
